Presidential Motorcade Driver

Seal

Yes, it's true.

It was very cool to be invited to this awesome once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

... we started the day waiting three hours with the Secret Service on the tarmac for Air Force One to arrive. That 747 touched-down so gracefully you wouldn't believe it was as large as it is. "W" popped-out and waved, but we didn't have much time to see him because it was time to move some people! I was driving a jumbo van labeled "Staff 1" (I got to keep the motorcade vehicle labels on the van). Staff 1 had White House staff in it. As soon as the vehicle in front of me moved, I had to move ... it was like driving in LA again -- tailgating at 60 MPH and every vehicle was heavily armed. :-) Me n AF1
The decoy This picture was from a stop before the event. I am standing next to the decoy Presidential limo, the lead car. The real limo was behind it, in a tent. It was very interesting how the motorcade drives through a giant tent before it stops so the public doesn't actually see the President climb in or out of the car ...

"W" spoke for about 25 minutes at the University Center while we waited outside listening to the speech on NPR.

After the event it was back to the airport where we sat until AF1 took-off again, then it was time to grab anything we could that said "White House" on it.     :-)
